Labor law comprises a body of scattered regulations—some highly complex, others difficult to locate when needed.
This work does not aim to be an exhaustive compilation of all labor legislation, nor even a thematic digest. Our intention is to provide accessible reading material that helps orient those just starting out in this field when faced with specific situations.
To assist in this regard, we have selected two fundamental pillars of our discipline—essential for those dealing with daily litigation and professional consultations: the Employment Contract Law and the Occupational Hazards Law.
The former forms the heart of Individual Labor Law, and we have dedicated a significant portion of our editorial effort to it; the reforms introduced by Law 27.802 and its implementing decrees have charted a new path, which we have set out to explore.
However, we could not overlook the area that currently generates the most conflict regarding workplace accidents; thus, we also undertook an analysis of the Occupational Hazards Law and its labyrinthine framework, aiming to enable precise advice and analysis of the cases at hand.
The analysis is complemented by the texts of specific labor statutes: the Construction Industry Law, the Agricultural Worker Regime, and the Domestic Workers' Statute. Furthermore, regarding Collective Labor Law, we include essential references to the Professional Associations Law and the collective bargaining framework.
In short, we present this work with the primary goal of helping you navigate the issues and inquiries that arise during the daily practice of labor law.
